My dear brothers, take not of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.
James 1:19-20
Do not merely listen to the word, and so decieve yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror.
James 1:22-23
We must listen to what is said to us, given by others around, take advice and words to heart, then act upon them, not for ourselves, to be an example, and then live that life out, like Christ, to live a life like Jesus, to show that we are genuine Christians, and not bogus, to show our love to others in our actions, too.
